When to start?

Handling sex education for teenagers is much trickier than for younger children. So ideally, start mentioning the topic with your child in a simple way from a young age.

Raise children to value and respect themselves and their bodies. This will provide a foundation for good relationships and a healthy sex life in adulthood.

Answer questions simply, giving answers and advice at a level they can understand. The age and maturity of your child will make a difference as to how you tackle the subject.

If you parent a teenager, don't put it off — the job will only get tougher. Remember, by the time they are teenagers, most young people already have a lot of knowledge from a variety of sources. But facts and attitudes may be confused.
