How can I help my teenager find a job?

If your teenager is considering a job, there are a number of things you can do.

  • Talk with them about your own working experiences - paid and unpaid - and decisions.
  • Discuss the labour market and what sort of job they may be looking for. Job Outlines on the Career Services' website lists information on all sorts of jobs, including skill and qualification requirements and potential salaries. Your teenager can go online or call Career Services on 0800 222 733.
  • Help your teenager to develop a CV and choose a referee
  • Help your teenager to prepare for an interview
