I want to find my birth parents - how?

If you were born and adopted in New Zealand, apply for a copy of your pre-adoptive birth certificate. By law, you can do this after reaching 20. Write to the Registrar-General of Births, Deaths and Marriages for the original birth registration details. If you already know the name and address of your birth parent(s), ask Child, Youth and Family to help you get in touch with them.
