Families Day - Photos from this years events
These images show some of the events that help make Families Day a success.
From one family to another
The residents of CarterCourt Rest Home in Carterton and staff took a group family photo and sent special Families Day wishes to their own families with handmade cards.
Craft Day
Runanga School (a few kilometres north of Greymouth) invited families to come and enjoy lunch then get crafty alongside the pupils. Painting, collage, playdough modelling, singing, patchwork and mosaics were on offer. It was great to see parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles and friends joining in with the variety of activities.
Family Tree Art
A successful Blending Families event was held at the Western Community Centre, Hamilton.
This event was co-ordinated by Hamilton City Council working in collaboration with Barnardos, Western Community Centre, Family Start, Te Runanga O Kirikiriroa, Salvation Army, Work and Income and the community.
Families tasted food from different cultures, took part in a treasure hunt, created family tree art, listened to puppet storytelling and much more.
Families were the focus of the week
The H.B. Williams Memorial Library in Gisborne had children and families doing things all week. It was PJs and bedtime stories one day and then later, on Families Day itself, the Pied Piper led nearly 600 children and members of their families on a merry march around the streets.
