Submission on the Local Government (Auckland Council) Bill

Download Submission ( PDF 141.98 KB) Get Adobe Reader

The Families Commission welcomes the opportunity to present this written submission to the Auckland Governance Legislation Committee on the Local Government (Auckland Council) Bill.

The Families Commission does not support or oppose the Bill. We do however agree with its primary objectives to “maximise

  • the current and future well-being of Auckland and its communities; and
  • Auckland’s contribution to wider national objectives and outcomes.”

Our submission does not address the Bill clause by clause but responds to the general tenor of the Bill and aspects that are most relevant to families, particularly where the Families Commission has information on the view of families, or where we have had involvement with relevant research or policy developments.
