The Families Commission welcomes the work being done to find useful and creative ways to keep as many New Zealanders as possible in work during the recession.

People are the most valuable asset of any business. Keeping them and their families supported during tough economic times is vital.

The Commission encourages all organisations making major changes to discuss these with staff and, where possible, agree on ways to lessen any impacts on them and their families.

This submission suggests some ways in which the Commission’s research shows that business and government could work together to find solutions and support families.
